Fife Doggy Daycare's Philosophy

Fife Doggy Homecare is a place your dog can come to, to feel welcomed and looked after when you are not able to be with them. I provide a friendly and caring service to create a ‘Home from Home’ experience for your dog, that will help make your evenings more relaxed with a satisfied dog.

Press the ‘Get in Touch’ button at the bottom of this page to book a free meet and greet, so that you and your dog can meet me, and I can learn all about their habits and unique personalities!

***Please note that I cannot take on any dog without having first completed the meet and greet.***

Dog Walking

The walk begins from the moment I arrive to collect your dog. The best dog walks are no longer about just throwing a ball, they are more about getting your dog to engage with the walker and listening to their instructions. So, each walk comes with an emphasis on good manners leading to good fun.

Each walk will have a variety of dynamic and engaging activities, which will fulfil your individual dog’s needs. These will include high and low arousal activities.

I offer group and solo walks. Group walks will have a maximum of 5 dogs in it, with the dogs matched for temperament. Solo walks can be especially useful if your dog feels overwhelmed in a group setting, or is recovering from an illness / surgery.

Off lead walking will only be done with your permission.

Your dog will come back to you satisfied and content at the end of each walk.

I will have been observing each of your dogs on the walk and am more than happy to fill you in on their interactions with the other dogs (dog friends!), what games they have enjoyed and also details of their toilet habits – a very important (if unglamourous) part of your dog’s health! We can discuss this more at the meet and greet.

Enrichment Sessions

These are specific activities designed to engage your dog’s brain when he or she is with me. These sessions encourage your dog to exhibit its natural behaviours, such as digging and sniffing, in a good behavioural manner.

If your dog is enjoying day care, or boarding with me then this is how I will keep them entertained and thinking throughout the day. I’d be delighted to talk to you more about this growing area of canine welfare, which I am studying at the moment.

Swimming

Great news for all water loving dogs! Being on the coast and close to the Firth of Forth I can provide many opportunities for your dog to have a splash in the sea, or in the rivers / burns feeding it. Swimming is fantastic exercise for dog’s joints and is a brilliant energy busting activity. For certain breeds, such as my own Flat Coated Retrievers, retrieving from water is an essential part of any walk!

Daycare

If you are having a fun day out or are working, and want to have your dog looked after for the day, then this service is for you. I’ll make sure your dog is well looked after, and fulfilled, throughout the day.

I have drop off times in the morning with pick-ups in the evening however, I understand that days don’t always work like that (for instance if you’re at the theatre in Edinburgh and are relying on trains), so more flexible drop offs and pickups are available by arrangement. Priority will be given to regular clients.

If you are not yet a regular client, ***Please note that I cannot take on any dog without having first completed the meet and greet.***

Night boarding

This service is for anyone who is going away for one or more nights, and wants to leave their dog in a home setting rather than kennels. I provide your dog(s) with their own private space, but they are more than welcome to live as part of the family in communal areas throughout the day and evening. At night, dog groups are separated to ensure their absolute safety.

Dogs are fed separately to avoid conflicts and resource guarding. I will follow the food regime that you desire.

*** Please note this service is only available for dogs that have regularly used my other services, as I need to know their temperaments to best provide a ‘Home from Home’ experience.***
